It is with great sadness that the Committee for Tactical Emergency Casualty Care shares the news of the tragic loss of a true pillar of the Tactical Medicine community. Michael Meoli was a former U.S. Navy SEAL and served nearly forty years as a firefighter and paramedic before retiring from San Diego Fire Rescue in 2018. Mike also supported the San Diego Police Department as a tactical paramedic for its SWAT Team and as an interventionist for its Crisis Intervention Team. Well known for his passion for advancing the field of TEMS, Mike spent many years developing guidelines and teaching the principles of casualty care in the high threat environment. Most recently, Mike was integral to teaching lifesaving skills to Ukrainian forces in their ongoing fight for freedom. He was in Ukraine when he died after sustaining critical injuries in a traffic accident in November 2024. C-TECC honors the memory of Mike Meoli for his decades of service, true patriotism, and passion for advancing the field of Tactical Medicine. Mike will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him and had the honor of serving by his side. May he rest in peace.
